About us

Our Company was founded by Mr. Michael Paporis, a great man who dedicated his life to develop his company. In only a short time, Mr. Paporis managed to become well known in the field of Cypriot businessman as an active and honest entrepreneur.

Mr. Michael Paporis was born on 14/09/1934 at Trimiklini village at the foot of Troodos mountain. After his graduation from elementary school at the age of eleven he left for Nicosia and following a year of work, he went to Limassol and entered the Greek High School. Immediately after Graduation he returned to Nicosia where he worked for three years, as a partly independent trader at the Nicosia Airport, and for another three years at a British Camp in the Suburbs of Nicosia until mid-1959 when Cyprus got its independence after four years of uprising and war against the British forces.

It was a difficult time to decide about a future career, but trading was the final choice. He started a small family company of Import-Export, trying mainly to setup a commission agency regarding anything that could come handy, writing lots of letters with a view to building contacts and relationships abroad.
Luckily, he made a contact in Libya where there was large demand for second hand goods and machinery which were auctioned in Cyprus by the British Army. He acquired a lot of experience in shipping and export handling and became first acquaintaned with Second Hand tyres of all sorts, a line that included aeroplane tyres used at the time on Tractors for agricultural purposes.
With Magri in Brescia, Frieshebrug in Alkmar, Rosenthal in Liverpool, and Hamsiha in Tel Aviv, loads of Aero tyres were moved to hungry customers.
At the same time car and truck tyres, second hand, downgraded/seconds were on demand, also the tyre casings for retreading an area, in which he entered by trading in machinery, know how, rubber materials, and accessories. This was a thrust allowing him to travel, visit, contact new people and build concrete relationships that lasted.
Unfortunately, Mr. Paporis suddenly died on 18 February 2008 but he will always be amongst us, because great people live for ever in our hearts.
We would like you to know that apart from your being punctual and dedicated co-operating individuals professionally, we have always been, and always will be considering you as long and valued friends also.
Thus, we may, and indeed will, continue our fruitful business relationship with a view to sharing mutual, worth-while achievements. After all, this is what our late dearest father always strived for, and no doubt, what he would have wanted!
We wish you sheer prosperity and happiness from us both,

Alkis & Sophie.
